5 Tips for Learning English through Music!

1. Browse through music online to see what you like.
Use YouTube to browse: search for one song in English that you know. (Or just search: Songs in English.) And then explore links and links and more links. You can also do this through music apps like Spotify or Pandora or Rdio. After a while, you’ll have a list of 5 or 10 songs you really like.
2. Get the lyrics!
Lyrics.com or AZLyrics.com or metrolyrics.com will have words to almost every song. Copy the lyrics! If you like, translate to your native language. It’s important to know the meaning of the songs and the songwriter’s intentions.
3. Just listen. Again and again.
Don’t worry about not understanding everything at first. Listen, enjoy and sing along when you feel ready. When you’ve had enough, take a break. Then you can read along with the lyrics and go deeper into the meaning of the song.
4. Sing along.
Sing with the song. Sing as you read the lyrics. Try to learn the song in “chunks” – one line and one verse at a time. And just sing the parts you know. And then when you’re alone, without the song and without the lyrics, try singing your song — quietly or out loud.
5. Take it public!
Try to find a place that has karaoke and try out your English song!
